Dressing Up: Happy Halloween from this Holly’s take on Holly Golightly!
Listening: NIALL HORAN. You guys. Niall released his debut album, Flicker, and it is soooooo good. It’s like the perfect gold weather music, like John Mayer and Ed Sheehan with a hint of a little Irish jig. I’m totally into it. Early favorites are Mirrors and Since We’re Alone, but I also love The Tide, Flicker, On My Own and all three singles…So basically the entire album. Go listen. You won’t regret it. Other songs I’ve been loving this month are Feels by Calvin Harris and Katy Perry, Chained to the Rhythm by Katy Perry. Aerosmith of course never disappoints with Last Child, Deuces are Wild and Draw the Line. Also, Have You Ever Really Loved A Woman? by Bryan Adams, O Come to the Altar by Elevation Worship and Wonder by Hillsong.
Watching: RIVERDALE. You guys. (Media has me v excited this month) I am obsessed with Riverdale. I flew through the first season and am almost done with it for the second time. I’ve been waiting to watch the second season because I wasn’t over the first one yet and needed time to process and rewatch it so I really knew what was going on. I did watch the first episode of season 2 and all I can say is, “Oh no.” I see the characters developing and starting to show other sides and it makes me veeeeery nervous that it’s all about to hit the fan. I love it though. Cheryl is my favorite character, followed by Veronica. I love Betty and Jughead and I think Archie is a dumb, dumb boy that will get himself in a lot of trouble down the line.
Watching 2: I watched Barefoot in the Park on Netflix this month and really enjoyed it. It features Robert Redford and Jane Fonda back in the 1960s. Fonda’s wardrobe in this movie is so retro cute! Sometimes older movies can be hard to follow because there are a lot of cultural references I don’t get, but this movie had me belly laughing, at home, alone, because it is genuinely funny. Highly recommend!
Shopping: Stumbled across these gorgeous wicker bags on Instagram this month. Wicker bags are normally pretty pricey, but these are affordable. There are so many options, too!
Wearing: This Free People sweater is EVERYWHERE right now. It’s so dang cute in the pinkest of pinks. (For reference, I’m 5’3 and this is a small. It’s pretty large.)
Hustling: I went to the Lt. Governor’s Young Professionals Conference this month and got to hear from Royce Young about going from Thunder blogger to ESPN contributor. It was so cool. He’s really funny and had tons of wisdom about turning his side hustle (blog) into a real job (ESPN!!!). Two takeaways? Embrace the grind and pray your team drafts KD and Russell Westbrook.
Blushing: Ok so I think somewhere on here I told you guys that I have really wanted to try the Tarte Amazonian Clay blushes, but they are so expensive and I couldn’t bring myself to do it. Then, I got a mini sized one in my Sephora birthday gift and LOVED it, right? Yes, okay. So for some reason, Tarte releases this palette of these blushes like once a year and there is a very limited supply. I’ve always missed it, until THIS YEAR. I don’t know where the desire for this palette came from. Pause, yes I do. It’s $44 for a sampler of like eight blushes, which is nearly the price of one blush. Blush lasts a lifetime anyway, so it is totally a steal to get all those for $44 when I will never run out of them. Long story short, I got the palette and I am loving it. There’s quite the variety of blushes and it didn’t include Paaarty (the one I already have), which you can get here. If you want the palette (you do before it’s gone!), you can get it here!
I must be DREAMING: NORMAN, OKLAHOMA IS GETTING A LA MADELEINE. This is one of my absolute favorite lunch spots ever, but the closest ones are in Dallas and Tulsa. Finally, the metro is getting one!!!! I can’t wait. It’s over in the University North Park development area that is also home to HomeGoods and Torchy’s Tacos.
Bonding: Did you catch my OU/Texas recap post? I can’t believe it’s already been 3 weeks since I was in Dallas with my best pals! We had so much fun and spent waaaaay too much money on Ubers around Dallas. Then I got to see Katie at the Jones Assembly last week and LDC Annie this past weekend before she went back to South Carolina! Friends!!!
