Listening: After seeing Third Eye Blind on Halloween, I really got on a 3EB kick. Songs I’m listening to on repeat are Wounded (oooommmmmmgggg), Losing a Whole Year, 1000 Julys and Forget Myself. Also, Taylor Swift released her new album, which I was excited for. You can read more of my thoughts here. My favorite songs on her new album are …Ready For It?, Dancing with Our Hands Tied, End Game, King of My Heart, Delicate, Don’t Blame Me and, specifically, the end of Getaway Car.
Watching: 10 Things I Hate About You is one of my favorite movies that I kind of forgot about until it was on TV a few weeks ago. That movie is so funny, witty and sweet. If you don’t love Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Health Ledger after that movie, you are wrong!!! However, the supporting characters in this movie are what make it so good. From Mr. Stratford to Joey Donner to Michael, there isn’t a weak link in the cast. Hats off to the casting directors and the writers of this movie. It’s a classic.
Wearing: All month was about this sweater. If you haven’t gotten your hands on it, do it! It’s my favorite thing in my wardrobe right now. However, these new two-toned slingbacks are quickly rising to the top of my list!
Shopping: I definitely found some fun things this Black Friday and Cyber Monday. I shopped in San Antonio, which was absolutely nuts! Check out what I got here! I will say, Loft was very impressive while J. Crew and J. Crew Factory were very disappointing! Sad. Factory’s quality seemed abnormally bad, which is shocking because I’ve always found it to be quite good.
Traveling: This month I made to trips south of the border–the Oklahoma border that is. Katie and I took a quick trip to Dallas to celebrate the birthday of our Pi Phi sis, friend and Katie’s former roommate, Brooklyn! We had so much fun out on Uptown and then at brunch the next morning. We were only there for about 18 hours, but we had a blast! I also went to San Antonio with the family over Thanksgiving. While the boys golfed, I shopped with my mom and Trey’s girlfriend. We liked San Antonio, but agreed that Dallas is still our favorite. Plus, it’s a lot closer!
Laughing: My family spent Thanksgiving dinner at Hooters this year. If you saw my Instagram story, you may have some questions! While driving to San Antonio, we stopped in San Marcos to watch the OU basketball game before going to the outlet mall there. We had time to kill before the mall opened and Hooters was our only option to watch the game because nothing else was open at 3 p.m. on Thanksgiving. I was like, “I am NOT going in there.” But, I had no choice and I wasn’t about to sit in the car for 2 and a half more hours. So, that’s the story. As far as the food goes (the reason EVERYONE goes to Hooters), Buffalo Wild Wings still has better wings. And I love wings, so you can trust my judgement.
Learning: Casey Neistat came to OU this month to speak about his career. I think the only other Speaker’s Bureau I went to at OU in four years there was about ESPN…Anyways, when I saw he was coming I knew I had to go. I sat near the back door so I could sneak out quickly when it ended, which was a great spot because he came out of the door I was sitting right at. It flew open and it was so weird seeing Casey Neistat standing 5 feet from me. Bizarre, for sure. He’s a fabulous, energetic speaker, and it was motivating to hear about his journey. Especially since I’m trying to do something similar to Casey. I loved his motto, which is “Do what you can’t.” Everyone in the world is going to tell you that you can’t do something, and that’s why you should do it. Being the daughter of entrepreneurs, that absolutely floored me. I loved it.
Winning: I have a great track record in Stillwater for being an OU fan. I won cheer state there as a senior, our high school football team won state there as a senior and I’ve never lost a bedlam in Stillwater. That includes this year! My parents and I made the trek up north, but it was worth it for an OU win! Sure, I lost 15 years of my life, but only for my Sooners!!
Believing: Do you ever just feel God changing you? Like somehow you just wake up different or with a perspective that is brand new. I’ve felt that this month. I think He has been molding me over the last year in ways I never could have imagined. For that, I’m so thankful and amazed. I know this, one prayer He always answers is a prayer for Him to work in your life. You might not see it right away, but you will see it. Even months later, I see the value and importance of relationships He has put in my life, which is so exciting as an answered prayer. There are definitely still things that scare me or I’m unsure about, but He hasn’t let me down yet and I know He never will. In a weird way, I can’t wait to get to the end of my life so I can look back and see what He did. That’s going to be cool and beautiful. It will finally all make sense.
