I’ve always had mixed feelings about birthdays. They were never my favorite as a child. There was one year when I was pretty young where my birthday really depressed me. I just did NOT want to turn a year older! However, the birthday parties and gifts were always really fun. Growing up at a gymnastics gym, we had the best birthday parties. I even had slumber party birthdays at the gym a few times. But while some people are obsessed with their birthdays, I just never got that quality. They’re always a little bittersweet for me.
One thing that always lifts my spirits is shopping. I don’t know if that’s sinful or gluttonous, but it’s the truth. I’m not going to act holier-than-thou. I’ve always found peace in browsing my favorite stores and finding new things that make life a little prettier. My love languages are gifts and notes, predominantly. I feel loved when I feel like someone has thought of me. So, when I get a surprise gift, it feels like I’ve hit the lottery. However, you do have to supply some gift ideas to get something you really want. Who doesn’t want to give a gift that will be loved??
A few weeks ago my mom asked me for a birthday gift list. Doesn’t it always seem like you have tons of things on your continual wish list, but when someone asks you for ideas you go blank? It does for me! It took some thinking, but I was able to come up with a few ideas for her. The main thing I wanted was to take a flower arranging class, which mom already purchased for me to do around my birthday! However, my mom loves giving gifts, so just a flower class wasn’t enough. I guess I can’t complain about that!
There’s a mix of functional and fun here, plus a bonus gift! Keep reading to find out more about the items on my birthday wish list and make sure to check out the widget at the end of this post if you need gift ideas for an upcoming birthday.
I’ve taken on adding some finishing touches to my bathroom and I would love to try this candle. I have one on my bedside table, but I would love to have one for my bathroom. It’s a little luxury that makes a great gift for any occasion!
When I think of staple dresses in any summer wardrobe, Sail to Sable comes to mind (along with Lilly, of course). These tunic dresses have quickly become an icon amongst lovers of a preppy style. I’ve never found a color combination that I love enough to purchase one. However, this light blue will look so great on summer tanned skin!
When I was looking for a Mac-Kenzie Childs Mother’s Day gift for my mom, I saw this pitcher at a local OKC boutique holding fresh flowers. I loved it immediately! Since one of my birthday gifts is a flower arranging class next month, this pitcher would be the best vase to put my arrangements in!
This isn’t the most exciting gift, but it’s pricey and something I already use everyday! Flowerbomb is my go-to perfume and I’m running low. No better time to replenish it than for my birthday!
Bonus: Chanel ballerina flats
I’ve been thinking about treating myself to a nice birthday gift…and I’m still thinking about it. I have a few ideas, but I think I landed on the Chanel ballerina flats. After purchasing the Ferragamo Vara pumps and falling head over heels (hehe) IN LOVE with them, I’ve been interested in adding another pair of timeless, staple shoes to my collection. I’m not sure yet if I’m going to pull the trigger for my birthday, but I think these are next on my luxury list!
