I thought it was the perfect time to share this outfit that is perfect for a winter date night since we’re getting closer to Valentine’s Day! I shared my Valentine’s Day gift guide for girls in my last post, so let’s just keep the theme going. If you are planning on going out, bust out your leather leggings (or order these) for the night on the town!
Of course, you don’t have to have plans or a significant other to wear a great outfit. I’m living proof of that! You never need an excuse to be well-dressed.
When we get close to Valentine’s Day, some people can get negative, sad or even panicked that they don’t have plans with a significant other. I won’t lie to you and say I haven’t felt the pang of sadness being home alone while my friends had plans with their boyfriends, but I refuse to let my life be defined by a relationship–especially when I am loved and known by the Creator of the universe!
Girls, if you feel like you need to get to a certain point in your life before you are really living, this is me asking you to reconsider.
If we wait for XYZ to happen before we start dressing the way we want or doing the things we want, we could be waiting forever. If you want to wear the leather leggings because you like them, wear them! If you wait for others to give you the blessing to live your life, you are giving others a lot of power in your life.
I’ve always been very stubborn, which meant that I don’t let what others think of me have that much weight in my life. Hello, if I really cared what others thought, this blog would not have started eight years ago. But, I still get my feelings hurt when others critique me (I really hate getting negative feedback). Through years of walking with God, I’ve learned to not let every opinion run my life. Being rooted in the Word and in truth means that every day I am reminded of what God thinks of me. That is WAY more important to me than what others think of me.
God gives us all passions and talents for a reason. Not only do they make us unique, but they can be used to further His kingdom!
To me, there’s something so empowering and exciting about dressing beautifully just because it’s what I love to do. It’s for no one else, but myself. God gave me a passion and is using my fashion and lifestyle blog as a way to reach someone, I know it. If I had waited until I had an Instagram husband to take pictures for my blog, this blog might not have existed! I might have missed out on pursuing something I love and being able to spend a lot of time on it.
This thinking of waiting on someone to start living is actually backwards. The Bible tells us that we will have to sacrifice when we are married. We go from being one person to being a part of a couple that becomes one. Suddenly, my selfish desires to pursue a blog or spend a little too much money on shoes that I adore are not the priority. Now is the time to take advantage of your free time and pursue your passion for the kingdom. Then you can take that momentum into your relationship.
I’m not saying to live it up now because eventually you’ll be tied to a ball and chain. I’m saying that you shouldn’t depend so heavily on someone else to find happiness or fulfillment. God is the only one who will ever fill the void you feel in your heart.
Pursue your God-given passions, and pursue them with God. Ask Him to join you and give you the confidence you need to break out of your shell and live a life that He can use to grow His kingdom. Yes, He can even grow His kingdom because you feel confident in your fabulous and tasteful outfit. Who knows, you may have the confidence to strike up a conversation with someone that will end up changing their life. All because of a good outfit!
So wear the heels because you love them and don’t wait a second longer to live the life God gave you.
