Last week on the blog got unintentionally crisis-y. Given my response to OU’s lack of reaction to the shooting at Fiji last week, that trend could have continued. However, I want to do something that’s a little more uplifting for all of us…well maybe except for any of my male readers. This week is crazy for me, so I thought I would do some retail therapy without the purchasing. You’re welcome, Dad! So today let’s take a look at 8 things you must have in your closet right now! I am a prep at heart and prefer to keep trends to a minimum, but there are definitely some ways to make a trendy piece a little more classic so that it has longevity in your wardrobe. I hope you’ll find your own inspiration and find a way to integrate these pieces into your spring closet.
My favorite blogger was my inspiration to go get myself a pair. They’re out of the box for me, but a fun challenge in my closet.
Navy and white striped top
These tops are so easy to wear in every type of weather. They look great with shorts, denim, white denim and every color under the sun. Plus, they make me feel like I’m on the east coast when I’m actually in the midwest.
Everyone loves Tory Burch sandals and I get it, but I would highly recommend a pair of Jacks. They are way cheaper, more durable and I think they’re easier to wear. Plus they come in tons of fun colors!
The perfect little sun dress for you
I used to shy away from wearing a full Lilly Pulitzer dress. That is, until I found the one. My favorite silhouette on my frame is a shift dress and I love wearing pink, so this dress was perfect for me. I think everyone should have that PLSD in their closet. I love mine because it looks great with wedges or Jacks and is so comfy. It’s the best to throw on in go when you’re in a pinch and need to look 100.
In Oklahoma the weather is never predictable so you always have to be prepared. Rain boots have had a fashion moment for the past few years, which I fully support. For spring I love hunter green and I just got a pink (!!!) pair on huge sale, so I can’t wait to bust them out every time rain is in the forecast.
I think this trend’s roots are on college campuses. I love it because you can be comfortable, but look presentable in pieces from Lululemon, to Nike, to Adidas, to Gap. Nothing is better than a beautiful spring weekend in my favorite athleisure. It is necessary.
I am dying to find a wicker bag for my next trip to the coast…of Lake Hefner. They are so classic and just scream spring and summer. I love the top handle and structured look of the bag pictured below. It adds to the femininity of the outfit and, honestly, anything Reese Witherspoon wears I love.
Ok, so tassel earrings are a little on the trendy side, but can be worn with classic outfits to counter act the ~trendiness~. Still I think that right now in fashion tassel earrings are so cute and provide a fun pop to an otherwise neutral outfit.
