Watching: I rented Father of the Bride when I was home for Christmas, which I hadn’t seen in years! It’s such a cute movie and the styling is amazing. The Spode dishes and decor, plus the classic preppy style of Nina and Annie is all right up my alley … which you’ll see later in this post. I also watched Bridget Jones’s Diary for the first time this month. I didn’t love it, but I do remember there was one part that I actually laughed out loud at … however I don’t remember the part (lol).
Listening: I woke up a few weeks ago with New Year’s Day by Taylor Swift stuck in my head, so that song has been on repeat the last bit of the month. I didn’t love it when I first heard it, but now I can’t get enough. Other songs I’ve been loving are End Game by Taylor Swift, Future and Ed Sheeran, Control by Tenth Avenue North, Somebody by Bryan Adams, Escape (The Piña Colada Song!) by Rupert Holmes, Jump then Fall and SuperStar by Taylor Swift, Lovin’, Touchin’, Squeezin’ by Journey, Prince of Heaven and Wonder by Hillsong and Losing A Whole Year, 1000 Julys and Wounded by Third Eye Blind.
Wearing: All month, I’ve been wearing these cap toe slingback pumps and Loft Fairisle sweater. I’ve also become obsessed with ball drop earrings. They aren’t anything new, but they’re new to me! I wasn’t sure I would like such a statement earring, but I have been pleasantly surprised. I even added three pairs to my collection this Christmas!
Working: I started a new job in December at a large agency in OKC, which is so exciting! I’m now working in marketing, as opposed to PR. I’ll still be doing a lot of strategy in my position, which makes my PR background really helpful. I’m in the process of getting my desk decorated because it’s so bare compared to everyone else’s. I have a ton of space to work with, so let me know what your favorite desk items are! I’m in the market.
OKCing: I spent a lovely afternoon at Okay Yeah this month with Katie. I love that place! It’s my favorite coffee shop in OKC. They have great lattes and tart pastries that are like Pop-Tarts. I don’t go there often enough, but it’s so close to me that I should stop by before work every once in a while! Also, speaking of OKC–I shared in Saturday Snaps that Wheeze the Juice is coming to Leadership Square! I am so excited because now I can go get an acaí bowl or smoothie for lunch when I’m working! I’m thinking of making it my Friday treat…
Shopping: I love Spode and have covered my apartment in many blue and white pieces resembling the classic brand. However, I finally got around to ordering these Spode mugs! I love them so much. I bought two–one to keep at work and one for home.
Reading: I feel like I’ve read all the books lately, which is why I’ve spent a lot of time at Barnes & Noble (as seen on Instagram). I’m going to do a more in-depth review of the books I’ve read, but my favorite so far is The Sacred Search. I told a little about how I found this book a few weeks ago on Saturday Snaps. Send me any book recommendations you have! Follow me on Instagram and shoot me a DM.
Ice Screaming: There’s a flavor of Blue Bell ice cream that I loooooove and can NEVER find. It’s chocolate and marshmallow ice cream with chocolate covered almond. Oh. My. Gosh. The best. Well, mom and I were at the store this month and I found it! Turns out it’s literally just called chocolate almond marshmallow. Lol, ok well good to know now. Every time I’m over by the ice cream at the store, I go and look for it. Now I’ll know what I’m looking for! If you ever see it at the store, do yourself a favor and buy it, and then text me and let me know where you got it.
Loving: This look is one of my favorites that I’ve posted on HollyHoehner.com! I used to wear leather pants in high school–no joke–with a feminine J. Crew blouse to counteract the “edgy” pants. People at my conservative Christian high school may have thought I was crazy in 2011, but now everyone is wearing leather leggings. Just call me a trend setter!! (Lol) Click here to shop the post and hear about my crazy NYE story.
Christmasing: I can’t believe the most wonderful time of the year is over! I didn’t embrace it as fully as I normally do, which I think is because I was preoccupied with changing jobs and living in an apartment for the first year. I still had a great time with family, however. Find out what gifts I received this Christmas by clicking here!
Believing: Wooooow what a season of life I’m in. It was a month full of prayer, wise counsel and sermon podcasts. I’ve been reminded of one of my favorite verses from the Psalms: “Though I walk in the midst of trouble, you preserve my life; you stretch out your hand against the wrath of my enemies, and your right hand delivers me. The Lord will fulfill his purpose for me; your steadfast love, O Lord, endures forever. Do not forsake the work of your hands.” Psalms 138: 7 & 8. My mindset in this season of life is to be active in every sense–even active in patience.
Tweeting: If you don’t follow Moon Pie on Twitter, you must go follow them. I have never loved a company’s Twitter account more. Every time I scroll through their Twitter I can’t help but laugh out loud because it is that funny! The way they write the tweets without punctuation and the sass overload … it’s just the perfect storm. The best stuff they do is in conversation with people who tweet them. Bravo, Moon Pie.
Podcasting: I’ve been really into podcasts this month. I actually started listening to them because I wanted to listen to past Life Church sermons. So far, I’ve listened to Dirty John (so weird, but good) and several episodes of She Did It Her Way and Wall Street Journal Secrets of Wealthy Women. If you’re a wanna be girl boss, the last two are very motivating.
