Shopping: I fell in love with when I saw this photo on Instagram featuring a Barrington Gifts tote bag. The whole look is gorgeous, but when I saw the Instagram account for Barrington Gifts I was hooked. I’m guilty of loving tote bags more than any other bag… So when I got a full-time job this month, I treated myself and purchased a St. Anne Monogram Tote as a work bag. I also love the Lady Bag! There are so many options that I may have to order a summer and winter version of each. Someone stop me before it’s too late!!
Shopping some more (oops): I’ve been loving the Sail to Sable sleeveless tunic dresses for a few years, but I’ve never pulled the trigger. This month I was really close to purchasing one, but then I learned about a brand called Sailor-Sailor. It’s really a sad story (lol). I didn’t know which one to try, but I did some soul searching and decided to order a Sailor-Sailor dress because it’s more versatile. The whole experience with Sailor-Sailor was wonderful, from the shipping to the dress. I qualified for free shipping and got it in three days! The dress itself runs true to size and is a super comfortable nylon/spandex material. So far I’m loving this American-made, female owned small business and I can’t wait to order more!
Wearing: I’ve been so impressed with Loft lately! This post, this post and this post all feature pieces from Loft. My very favorite piece is the denim skirt I’m wearing in this post. It makes every outfit look a little more put together and is super comfortable. I love shopping in the store because they always have great sales and a good mix of trendy and classic styles.
Blushing: For years I have wanted to try the Tarte Amazonian Clay blushes, but I’ve been too cheap to actually purchase one. Last month I was shopping at Sephora, so I claimed my birthday gift, which was a Tarte sampler! I’ve been obsessed with the mini blush in that sampler named Paaarty. It’s a great nude, yet still gives a natural rosy flush and it doesn’t have any sparkle in it, which I like. Tarte, you got me. I’m going to have to purchase a full size blush.
Barista-ing: I got an espresso maker for my birthday last month, so I’ve been obsessed with making lattes lately. Before I go to work I’ll set aside 10 minutes to make a caramel iced latte and it is worth the time. To fill my Lily tumbler, I do two double shots with milk and caramel creamer. In the afternoon I’ve been making decaf iced lattes using a double shot of decaf coffee with milk and caramel creamer. I wanted to pick up learning coffee as a new hobby and I definitely think I’m on my way.
Reading: If you’ve been on my Instagram (follow me!), you’ve seen that I read Not Yet Married by Marshall Segal, who writes for Desiring God. It was really good and definitely and easy, yet convicting read. It covers a lot of different parts of singleness and how to serve the Lord in this time instead of sitting around moping (lol). I’ll be reviewing it soon!
Reading some more: On my 100 Things I Want from Life list I have written that I want to read Redeeming Love once a year for the rest of my life. July was the month that I took care of that task for 2017! I absolutely love this book. I had it for years before I actually read it for the first time when I was home for Christmas break as a college freshman. Looking back, I know why He had me read it when I did. I cracked it open for the first time one night when I couldn’t sleep and stayed up until 7 a.m. reading. I slept a few hours and then woke up and finished it. It’s that kind of book. The story is a retelling of the book of Hosea. You will be sick, your heart will hurt, you’ll cry, and you’ll never be the same when it’s finished. READ IT.
Podcasting: One of my best friends sent me Matt Chandler’s recent Singles sermon. I really enjoy his sermons and this was no different. He opened my eyes in ways that I had never considered regarding marriage. This quote Matt shared from Page Benton Brown summed up my thoughts about singleness and what I am fighting to believe everyday, “I am not single because I am too spiritually unstable to deserve a husband or too spiritually mature to need one. I am single because God is good and this is his best for me.” You can learn more about what the Lord taught me through this sermon in my “Believing” section!
Curling: I’ve always wanted to get good at using hot hair rollers, so this month I used hot rollers on my hair a lot. They really are quick and easy and give you hair an effortless (seriously) bouncy blowout look. My hair is short and they still work, although I look a little crazy at first before the curls fall a little. This is what my hair looks like a few hours into the day when I’ve used the rollers.
Watching: LAST CHANCE U. OMG. The second season came out on Netflix on the 21st and I tried not to go crazy binge watching it, but I still managed to finish it by the 23rd…I absolutely loved Dakota Allen and I’m rooting for him even though he’s a Big 12 enemy! My favorite episode was Ain’t It A Sin and I liked how we really got to know more about everyone we met last season. I also liked how they addressed the documentary and its impacts instead of pretending like the show isn’t there. However, I ended the season not a big fan of Coach Buddy. I was sick of hearing him yell (lol) and he did some things on the field that I didn’t like. I still like him as a person, just not when he’s on the field necessarily. Also, Isaiah Wright irritated me. I wanted to reach through the screen and shake him because I don’t know that he understands how every little thing he does affects his future. I’m afraid he’s his own biggest enemy. Also, Brittany was repping OU (below)!!
Working & Moving: I got a job this month and I am so excited about it! I started yesterday, so I’ve been going nonstop the past few days. It’s so great though! Last weekend my mom and I did some casual apartment shopping, but then my mom made the good point that the drive from my parents’ home to work will add two more hours to my day. 24 hours later I had the keys to my new apartment! It’s a great, clean, safe place in Midtown and I am in LOVE. I’ve been apartment shopping all weekend and moving all my stuff into it. Decorating is so fun that I’ve been dreaming about decorating this last week…HomeGoods was full of good decor finds that help my apartment look more like “me” while I wait for my rug and coffee table to come in. Pictures and more details coming soon!!

Believing: This month was all about singleness. The church always teaches about how singleness is a gift and how marriage is hard in ways that single people never see. Paul in 1 Corinthians 7 is the basis of this teaching. I think every time I hear that, I’m still a little skeptical that it’s really that true. However, the Word is true. I was calling the Word a liar and that’s calling God a liar. Through Not Yet Married and Matt Chandler’s sermon, He is teaching me that marriage is not going to be easy or totally satisfying. Paul wasn’t lying when he said marriage brings on challenges that singleness doesn’t have. I know this, but did I truly accept it? No. He is shaping my understanding of Him and His ability to satisfy. After all, you can still be lonely in marriage just as you can be in singleness–if not more lonely. That’s eye opening.
