Listening: September brought the return of Taylor Swift. It has been different, but I’ve been enjoying her new music. …Ready For It? is my favorite of the two. Other than a few new songs here and there, I haven’t been listening to a ton of music lately. K-Love is still my go-to at work. To find out my favorite worship songs right now, click here! Also, Feels by Katy Perry and Calvin Harris is just a jam.
Watching: Football season is back! I’ve loved waking up on Saturday mornings to College Gameday. It truly is the best time of the year. Boomer!!!
Eating: You guys, I’ve made these little monte cristo sandwiches like every week this month. They are SO easy and delicious. I can get away with eating them for lunch all week, especially if I make a caesar salad to go with. Just get a rotisserie chicken, romaine, shredded parmesan, dressing and you’ve got an eeeeaaaaasy salad to pair with these sandwiches. (Who needs health…)
Exercising: You may have seen that I joined a flag football team with Allison and my co-workers. Well, so far we’re 2-1 on the season with four games before playoffs. We lost in week 1 to the reigning champs, but now I have full confidence that we could take them on and win! We had them down late in the game the first time. Playing has been a great source of exercise and a way to make new friends! I’ve also caught four passes, two for touchdowns and one for a two-point conversion, but who’s counting…(my family) My parents, brother, aunt and uncle came to our last game and that was soooo fun. Since we won, I think they are required to come back!
Upgrading: I got the iPhone 8 Plus this month! I had my 6s for a few years and I wanted to get a plus. It just so happened that when I got the itch to upgrade, the new phone came out. So far, I’ve been loving it! The size feels luxurious and it holds a charge for years.
Blogging: I was telling someone about my blog this month. I said something about my blog plan and I soon as I did, I realized it was a lie. I said I would never do a certain thing on here (I’m being weird now, but you’ll know what it is soon). This month I came to terms with reality and I set a plan in motion. I really decided that life is too short to not give everything you have to accomplish your goals.
Reading: I read another book this month. This one was recommended by Katie and Katheryn, so I knew it was a winner. It’s called Wild at Heart by John Eldredge. It was so eye-opening and interesting that I want to read the book his wife wrote about women. Wild at Heart is the more famous of the two, so I’m not sure it’ll be as good. I am so fascinated by gender roles and why God made men and women to fit certain roles, and this book taught me a lot or exposed me to ideas about the being of men I hadn’t thought about. It’s not the Bible, but it was a cool perspective. Very good. Five stars.
Believing: I’ve been going through Matthew and Mark this month (read how I study the Bible here!) and it’s been a good change. I was in the Old Testament for a while, so to read about Jesus himself is a nice change. This was the perfect time to read Wild at Heart as well because that book pulled a lot from the life of Jesus. We are teaching boys to not be men. We want quiet, sweet, feminine boys that don’t make problems. Jesus was not that. Reading these books this month reminded me of the madness Jesus caused. He was radical and passionate, not quiet and passive.
Crying: Remember when I got emo about my friends last month? Well…they keep getting better. Annie and Jess sent me flowers at work and Katie listened to me ramble at brunch without batting an eye. Plus Annie, Jess and I just booked OU/Texas!!! THANKFUL FOR YOU PEOPLE.
