Since beginning my first blog eight years ago I’ve found a wonderful community of blogs that I love to read. The blogs that I come back to time and time again have a few things in common. They marry two things I am very interested in–PR/social media and fashion.
For a while I didn’t think many people follow blogs like I did, but I think that’s because for a while we didn’t have the social media channels that we do now. Thanks to Instagram and Pinterest, bloggers have been able to get their content out and have grown their followings rather quickly. For this reason, I don’t think blogs should be written off as just a hobby. They are seriously amazing marketing tools for companies, which companies already recognize. Many companies partner with blogs to have their products featured. The companies aren’t the only party benefitting in this tactic. Partnerships with companies make the blog a profitable hobby, or even a job, for their writers. Bloggers are the perfect way for companies to bridge the gap between themselves and their audience by sponsoring posts. In the end, the company, blogger, and audience are all big winners.
I definitely have a certain taste when it comes to blogs. I enjoy fashion blogs that focus on classic preppy style, elegance and well-rounded lifestyles written by young, educated, professional women. I am a huge proponent for educating yourself and working out your mind and all these blogs give me that aspect. I continue to come back to these blogs because they offer me a means to improve something I am missing in myself.
Sydney is my absolute favorite blogger out there right now. I drool over her classic style and it turns out she’s a young marketing professional living in Pittsburg. I live vicariously through her party hosting skills and her champagne taste. She’s the most relatable to me, which is why she is my favorite. I check her blog daily as well as following all of her social media so I never miss a post…or an outfit. Her content is bad for my bank account, but soooo good for my soul.
Sarah Vickers is arguably the GOAT when it comes to classic preppy style. She loves posting outfits clad in tartan, L.L. Bean boots, J.Crew, collard shirts and, of course, pearls. While Summerwind41490 shares wearable (to me) outfits, Sarah’s style is unobtainable. She was born with the most classically preppy style and pulls it off perfectly. If you want to pretend you live in New England and apple pick every weekend, this blog is for you.
I love looking at Abby’s classic outfits filled with collared shirts, skirts and her affinity for Hunter boots. She pulls off red lips way better than I ever will and she loves to feature her friends on her blog. Annoyingly, they are all impeccably dressed. She’s an adorable college freshman who takes dressing for success very seriously.
A blog about PR, NYC and fashion all in one? You betcha I read it. Lauren offers advice about PR and career as well as fashion posts. Having NYC as a background makes for beautiful photos and her writing is just so good. I am definitely taking notes so I can improve my writing. Lauren and Sydney of Summerwin41490 are both proof that you kind of can have it all.
If you are looking for a blog to read I suggest typing in some key words into Google plus “blog” and start exploring. Pinterest is also a great place to look, especially for girly topics. Both of these ways helped me find my favorite blogs. You would be surprised how many blogs there are on the Internet and how many different topics they cover. Hey, you might even find out your favorite brand partners with blogs.
