My family went to San Diego a few weekends ago to celebrate my brother’s 21st birthday. We had never been, so we weren’t exactly sure what all San Diego entailed. We soon found out the town is full of night life, delicious food and amazing weather. I want to show you some of my favorite parts about San Diego and do a mini look book, if you’re at all curious about what I wore. The weather was a DREAM, especially coming from the hot weather in Oklahoma. All in all, California is as good as people say it is! We even got to experience authentic California highway traffic (joking). San Diego isn’t near as bad as LA, but I’ll have to go to LA one day to confirm!
Anyways, I hope you enjoy this San Diego recap. Regularly scheduled programming will continue Thursday. Enjoy your Independence Day tomorrow!!
Hotel & Scenery
We stayed at the Hilton at Torrey Pines because it was basically on the golf course that my dad and brother played. It was beautiful, even though it was foggy right off of the ocean. Torrey Pines was home of the 2008 U.S. Open that Tiger Woods won. Since we were so close to the clubhouse, we had lunch there one day. We had awesome food and shopped the huge pro shop.
The beaches in San Diego were weird to us, which is definitely because we were expecting Florida-like beaches. You can’t walk for miles on many of their beaches, but we did find one beach on Coronado Island that was long and gorgeous and then another beach in Del Mar. The beaches at La Jolla are definitely more rocky and are where the seals hang out! There were so many seals laying on the rocks and they didn’t even mind all the people.
These boyfriend jeans are THE BEST. And I got them for a deal! The black top is old, but I linked something similar from the same brand. Shop the widget below!
I lived in these boyfriend jeans during this trip. Paired with this staple J.Crew shirt, I was rocking the East Coast look on the West Coast. Shop the widget below!
The day the boys golfed, the girls went to Fashion Valley Mall. It was a great mall, but what made it even better was the fact that it was outside. So we still got to enjoy the perfect weather and shop. That mall had EVERYTHING–even a Pinkberry! I love love love their yogurt. I would definitely go back just to go to that mall.
Food & Dining
The two main restaurants we went to were called Poseidon and Cowboy Star. They were off the charts good. It was just the best seafood and steak you’ve ever had. Cowboy Star is locally owned and you can tell! They brought us little palette cleanser treats before our meal that were unreal. One was a ricotta ice cream with crushed pistachios and strawberry. OMG. They were free, so that was a really sweet addition to the dining experience. For lunch one day, my parents and I stumbled upon this sandwich shop/liquor store. It was mainly a liquor store that had a deli counter. The owner, Joey, was so nice and made the best sandwich I’ve ever had. It was so random that we found it and absolutely loved the food. He told us that Russell Westbrook comes to his store every 4th of July in order to stock up for the holiday! Joey loves Russ.
Found this dress at J.Crew Factory and have been living in it this summer! It’s perfect for any occasion and looks great with wedges or flats. Shop the widget below!
