So you just graduated college? Congrats!!! The real world is much different than college, but it’s great. I know you’re having a hard time believing me right now. I was the same way a year ago when I was in your shoes.
Let’s just get this out of the way: It’s ok if you don’t know what you want to do with your life after college. It’s ok if you don’t have a job. It’s ok if you move home with your parents. It’s ok to miss college.
I remember this time last year thinking that I needed someone to tell me what I was supposed to do now. I didn’t think I was qualified to make such a big decision about my life! Up until then, life was planned out. After middle school you go to high school. After high school you go to college. After college … what do you do? You’re finally on the cusp of the rest of your life and you don’t know where to begin.
It’s the strangest phenomenon–feeling the endless possibilities while simultaneously feeling like you’re trapped under a rock.
I can say now a year later, that everything works out. It worked out for me and it will you. The Lord was there every step of the way, and I can honestly say that I am closer to Him after going through the difficulty of job and soul searching after college. Isn’t that the point of trials? To bring us closer to Him and lean on His truth in the valley? Perhaps, this is the point of your struggle right now just like it was mine. I will say, I am so thankful that I have this blog documenting this journey. Maybe God will use it to help millions or just one person find the joy of Christ. That’s my ultimate wish.
Without Christ, I couldn’t have done this. He is my strength, my hope and my comforter. I guarantee He will make this journey much easier. If you don’t know where to start, crack open your Bible to the Psalms and let Him speak truth and hope into your heart. Eventually, you’ll be in my position and, I pray, much closer to Christ than you started.
3 Tips For The Recent Grad From A Recent Grad
- Keep your options open on the job hunt. Take the interviews even if they aren’t exactly what you want, give them your all, send a thank you card and stay positive. You never know where that new connection will take you.
- Go for that dream you’ve always wanted to chase. Now is the time! (Exhibit A)
- Get plugged in with a church group where you can be around others going through the same experience.
